David Roscoe (Big Dave) Roberts, age 58, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2026, unexpectedly at Marshall Medical Center.
Dave was born May 30, 1968, in Roanoke, Virginia, to the late Roscoe and Carol Harrison Roberts.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joetta Thornsbury Roberts, daughter Krissy Roberts of Lewisburg, son Dave (Haley) Roberts of Lewisburg, two granddaughters, Bailey and Haley Fishburn of Lewisburg, two godchildren, Sterling and Vivian Woodruff of Shelbyville, three sisters, Kathy (Curtis) Tibbs of Petersburg, Vicki Danmeyer and Patty Erickson both of Florida, brother, Mark (Angie) Roberts of Petersburg, several nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.
Big Dave lived a life defined by hard work, deep faith, and unwavering love for his family. As a well-known auctioneer, he traveled across many states, bringing energy and heart to every sale—whether livestock, cars, or estates. At home, he found peace working on his farm with his wife and children. Horses were a lifelong passion, and he proudly sponsored the Country Boy Horse Show for many years. He was known for his gentle spirit, caring heart, and a smile that never seemed to fade. Even after 40 years of marriage, his love for his wife, Joetta, remained as strong as ever. His children and grandchildren were the center of his world. One of his biggest joys was watching his granddaughters ride and show horses.
Dave was a man devoted to his faith which guided every part of his life. He shared Christ’s love openly and greeted people with warmth, a big smile and a bigger hug. He leaves behind a life rich with love for his family and many, many friends. Those blessed to know him will carry his spirit forward—in the stories he told, the joy he brought, and his signature reminder he shared so often: “God Loves You, and I Do Too.” He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. But, without a doubt we know, he met Jesus and heard those words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
