Obituary – Neal Jackson

JACKSON - Neal Jackson, age 84 of Monroe, GA, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 24, 2026 in the Monroe Chapel of Tim Stewart Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Gratis, GA.
Neal was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Roy and Gladys (Treadwell) Jackson and his Siblings Amy Smith, Maurice Jackson, Cecil Jackson and Marvin Jackson. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Jackson of Monroe, GA; children, Todd (Shanna) Jackson of Monroe, GA, Scott Jackson of Pulaski, TN, Matthew Jackson of Statham, GA: step-son, Chris Hardin of Beaverton, OR; grandchildren, Ellie Jackson, Tilden Jackson, Colton Jackson, and Dylan Jackson.
Neal was a Walton County native and graduated from UGA. He had a passion for Real Estate and started Jackson Realty in 1969. He also co-founded The Walton-Barrow Board of Realtors in 1981, served on the GA House of Representatives from 1981 to 1986, was President of The Georgia Association of Realtors in 1999, served on the GA Real Estate Commission from 2001 to 2005 and was Chairman of the Commission in 2004.
A familiar face in the horse industry, Neal showed horses in GA and was a longtime member of the Georgia Walking Horse Exhibitors' Association (GWHEA), where he was active in all facets of the organization. He attended his first celebration in 1964 and was Reserve WC in 1984 in the Amateur Specialty on Master Star. He had a deep love for showing and a true passion for the horse that remained with him throughout his life. His sons, Todd, Scott and Matt Jackson have also been lifelong members of the horse industry and now his grandson Dylan are continuing that legacy. He raised and showed TN Walking Horses and helped start the Walton County Horse Show in the 1960’s.
Neal loved Walton County and took pride in serving for over 25 years on the Monroe Downtown Development Authority. He loved being outdoors on his farm and especially loved hosting family reunions in his big red barn.
The family will receive friends 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2026, and 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Friday, April 24, 2026 at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 209 South Hammond Drive, Monroe, GA 30655. 770-267-2594.
